You get out what you put in. I would study 1-2 hours per day and this made all the difference when midterms rolled around. You have to understand that this class is looking at something and committing everything to memory. All major pathways + their activators/inhibitors + other common items. You must take a chunk out each day so it gets to the point you build up a tolerance to the commitment. Yes, it was draining, but this professor gave you everything in order to succeed. Yes, exams were hard but taking the time to commit everything to memory eliminated any doubt when looking through the questions.

A very compassionate teacher who was proud of the work she presented. Yes, the material was boring at moments, but she never let that stop her teaching.

The textbook is a must (diagrams are everything). Study every day (even for an hour), and practice by testing yourself. Watch YouTube videos and put the time in.
