focuses on protein expression and purification, spectrophotometry, colorimetric assay, computational analysis and functional analysis of protein. the entire lab is based around taking human DHFR DNA, putting it in E Coli to generate large volume of recombinant protein then testing the purity (chromatography) and functionality or the DHFR protein using SDS-PAGE and Western Blot to determine protein size (in base pairs). Then calculating NADPH enzymatic rate to determine DHFR functionality (DHFR + NADPH -> THF + NADP+). DHFR is important for DNA repair and targeted for cancer medicine
