The class was definitely difficult, namely the exams. It was a lot of extra information that i didn't care to learn but being introduced to this information was good to know and gives you an appreciation for areas of biology outside of cellular bio.
You learn about plants, prokaryotes, and evolution. It's not super useful if you're not planning on going into other classes related to this like Plant Bio, Environmental Bio, Animal Development, or related classes - but if you are going into those classes then it is useful.
He's a good professor, some people complained about his teaching but they didn't seem to understand that it's a gateway course and supposed to be difficult. He isn't the greatest professor but he's definitely not a horrible professor - the topics are just difficult and it's a lot of info. He gives extra credit opportunities and provides you with enough info to do well in the class. Try outside resources and you will be okay
I wish I knew that the exams would be super hard. You definitely can't just have a general understanding, you need to know the topics and be able to make connections. Read the textbook and prepare in advance and you'll be fine
