After taking calculus in high school, this course didn't introduce many new topics. It's still a difficult course though, and it's easy to lose a big chunk of your grade really fast if you aren't on top of homework. The tutorials this term didn't feel particularly helpful, since they were intended to challenge your understanding of the material, but as someone who didn't always fully grasp everything, they felt like a waste of time.
The course covers limits, derivatives, and introduces integration. Concepts in this course are very relevant to some other math-based courses, so really knowing how to do derivatives and integration is very important. For students also taking PHYS110 in particular, there is a reason this course is a pre-/co-requisite for PHYS110.
Jane covered the content at a comfortable pace with lots of examples, often calling back to previous examples once we've learned something new to show how that example could've been done more efficiently or how concepts are connected. She was very active in the Brightspace forum offering help with assignments and keeping students updated on marking processes and exam information.
Do as much practice as you can. It's easy to feel confident about your understanding and then get lost on exams because you aren't familiar with some random rule.

Prof: Trefor Bazett / Fall 2023
Dec 17, 2023
Mostly a repeat of Calc 12, but includes stuff from AP Calc as well (integrals).
Trefor is an amazing professor that tries to uplift all of his students and keeps lectures engaging with his bizarre and sometimes shocking anecdotes. His notes are very clear and he spends ample time on every problem. You might hear about “the rabbit incident.”
Do not underestimate this class just because you took Calc 12.

An essential course for anyone interested in engineering - though basically a repeat of Calculus 12 if you took it in high school. Svetlana's lectures were at a good pace and informative. She handwrote notes on the projector which is much better than skipping through slides.
Take this course seriously. Overconfidence from high school lead me to a poor grade. The textbook is shared for calculus 1 - 4 so it's worth buying a copy.
