[Taken online due to pandemic] OVERALL ENGR 297 gives an introduction into some philosophy and ethics topics relevant for engineers. The content was interesting excluding a few drab assigned readings. With Carrie, students could complete the course fully asynchronously. Carrie was a great professor overall, but she went through PowerPoint slides quite quickly. I found using a tablet to markup the PowerPoint PDFs extremely valuable when taking notes in this class. You could get similar results just typing over the slides in OneNote or some similar program. WORKLOAD - 5 quizzes given every few weeks (how long these will take depends on how well you want to do. If you want to obtain good grades on tests and quizzes: - Carrie gives a testable list of terms for the first and second test. Go over these before the test and make your own brief notes. This should be more than enough to do well on tests. - The second test contained questions taken from each group presentation. I suggest taking good notes on each presentation (above just reading the presentation handout each group provides). The presentation handout might not cover everything the presentation covered. - RTFQ: read over multiple choice questions and answers 2 or 3 times. For the most part, they are not misleading.
