Foundational college writing course, I found very helpful. 3 main papers with shorter assignments throughout the quarter and you compile everything into a portfolio at the end of the quarter.
Had a grad student teacher and she was great

Not very hard. Low output class with three essays that teach you foundational college writing skills, a few worksheets, and a portfolio with reflective statements about the main papers. This class was very accessible for first-year students and was a good example of how first-year writing in college SHOULD be taught.
I think Prof. Zhu was very helpful if you go in during office hours and ask for one on one help with essays. She gives really good writing advice.
My professor was very nice but she doesn't teach at UW anymore (she has a full-time job in Student Life, I think).

Not a challenging course, but depending on the professor, can definitely be interesting. Kaelie was extremely helpful and made the material unique and engaging. She allowed us to explore various mediums and genres (music, fiction and nonfiction, poetry, etc.) which was refreshing.
Take advantage of the opportunities to get feedback and use that feedback to make improvements to your writing!

Easy class. Pretty good teacher. Required little effort to get a 4.0. Be warned YMMV if you don't enjoy or struggle with writing. I personally don't enjoy writing but I'm pretty decent at it, so I was able to crank out each essay in a couple hours once a week.
