First of all, the UW math department hides professor names before the quarter starts. They know most of their math professors are not good so they decide to not provide that info from the start so there is "balance." I get that there are not many math professors but PLEASE just do something about it. There is this one prof who is getting a 2.8 on rate my prof and everyone I've talked to that was in her class hated her. This is unfair to the students. Who the professor is really affects a student's performance in class so PLEASE do something. Also, the curriculum itself is not unbearable but I just hate how there are no explanations for the practice final reviews. That is literally the most important exam and for some annoying reason the math department made the final be worth 30% and they ...read more
It is useful stuff though. For STEM students, math is a must so this course has to be taken whether we want it or not.
I loved my professor. He was such a friendly and chill person. Honestly, he was the only one that really made this class bearable. He would just tell us to ask him if we need homework extensions and give them to us if someone asked. He is super understanding in lectures, goes over questions thoroughly, and the midterms he made were very true to what we learned. Also, he would do review sessions during lecture where he would go over what type of questions would be on the test and what concepts we really need to know. Yes, the exam questions are more difficult than the practice questions he would give us but they were very relevant.
The final exam is made by ALL the profs teaching this course in the quarter, not your prof alone. So just keep in mind, there are some really bad profs for this course and the final is so much worse than the midterm. Even the practice final questions would be so much harder than what we actually learned.
