Professor Nikolai Popov Reviews

Prof: Nikolai Popov / Fall 2019

Good introduction to a lot of the concepts other English courses teach in more depth as well as a good review of ENGL 202’s “five main modes of criticism” spiel. Flexible assignments where it’s easy to get at least a decent grade. Lots of academic writing and lots of reading but it’s not the busiest course I’ve taken. A lot of students had issues with my professor’s attendance policy but I think it was fair.
Professor Popov (retired now) is very knowledgeable about...well, everything, but he’s dull and rather unexpressive. That said, he’s a fair grader and the assignments are rather easy.
Most of the profs who teach it now are good. I’ve had two (Clare and Foster) for different classes and had a great time with both. Popov I would have recommended if you like lecture courses where there isn’t much to engage with peers in.
