This class is an excellent dive into some of the more technical aspects of the MIS department and the material it offers as a program. If computer science interests you in business contexts., this is a class where you want to pay extra close attention.
Absolutely a useful class, especially if you're interested in pursuing careers related to databases and business intelligence. I used a lot of the core principles I learned in this class to inform my interviews at companies and managed to land a job, too.
Dr. Carter is extremely knowledgeable and you will learn a lot from her if you put the effort in to be attentive during class. However, she will not chase students to ensure they're grasping the content at all times. If you think you're starting to sink, let her know!
I knew the class covered a lot of the material on database schema, but I was still surprised at the complexity of some of the questions asked about entity relationships. If you get the chance, be sure to brush up on the basics of database schema and integrity so you have a basis to start from when the course dives into it.
