If your willing to put in a tiny bit of extra effort, and ask the advanced students lurking in your class, Print 1 with Cohen is a great way to learn printmaking.
Relief printmaking is the main focus of printmaking 1. Most of the boards provided in class will be made of MDF.
Prof Cohen is a professor who is in the realm of forgetting what beginners don't know. The knowledge is there, but because printmaking isn't something she's heavily practiced in teaching just yet, sometimes you have to know to ask the extra questions.
Ask questions, make friends with the advanced students, and order your tools early! And if you can, pick up Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Processes 2nd edition. It'll run you around 40$ as of 2022 but its massively helpful if you really want to learn

Printmaking is definitely a course I'd put top of the list for non art majors. My only complaint is sometimes the project topics were oddly restrictive, but that might have just been me.
FAU has the printmaking department divided into two major chunks: Printmaking 1, which focuses on relief print, and Printmaking 2 which focuses on intaglio print. You won't have to buy any textbook, but you will need paper, and a set of printmaking tools
Joseph has a very intimidating sorta air, but he's one of the chillest professors I've met(unless you mess up the class brayers those things are expensive! Respect the brayer rules >:O) Be prepared for many dad jokes
Order your tools early! Some of the students in class were a few weeks behind because shipping tools got delayed, and make sure you buy a slip strop! Dull tools mean carving is a pain in the butt.
