As a civil engineering major, I do not enjoy chemistry and I did not find this class to be useful nor interesting. However, for a class I was not excited to take, it was very easy. Davit is an amazing person, and his exams were very straightforward. I highly recommend doing the practice exams that are provided in Canvas as they are extremely similar to the exams.
This is a class made specifically for engineering majors, so it does not go super in depth about chemistry topics. It is your typical general college chemistry class. I personally did not find the topics useful since I am a civil engineering major.
Davit is a great and kind person. However, I found myself having to teach a lot of the content myself. It isn't too difficult though, so I would not stress too much. The great thing about Davit is that he is extremely flexible and will work with you to help you succeed.
Do the practice exams on Canvas. The final is very similar to the exams given throughout the semester. It says this in the syllabus so it will not be a surprise, but attendance is somewhat mandatory since Davit does Top Hat quizzes. If you get 75% correct on the Top Hat quizzes at the end of the semester you will get a 100% for that portion of the grade, so don't stress about always attending or getting them correct.

I personally have an absolute hatred for chemistry, soooo Overall the class is alright. The assignments are a pain to finish as OWL homework is very very picky on what you enter and what it accepts. The chapter content grows in difficulty and boringness as the semester continues.
Focus mainly on general chemistry but geared towards engineers. There are weekly quizzes that are ridiculously hard for no reason, so unless you have a decent idea on the chapter discussed that week, good luck. They drop 5 of your worst quiz scores. The homework as I said earlier is a pain in the a**. The longer ones suck, and iirc they do drop a few of those assignments, but not as many as the quizzes. There are 4 exams, 3 midterm, 1 final. Each exam is over 3 chapters, so Exam 1 is over chapters 1-3, Exam 2 is over chapters 4-6, and so on. They post practice exam. The practice exams are somewhat similar to what is on the exam, but the actual exam questions are significantly harder. The class is curved to match previous year's averages at the end of the semester. Participation in each lec...read more
He's a very interesting guy. He's got an Italian accent, and loves to play Duck Tales about 10 minutes before class each lecture. He holds exam review session the morning before class. On those days participation is not required. He answers everyone's questions with enthusiasm, and explains more difficult topics more thoroughly.
Although the lectures may seem boring, they are useful, and they incentive you to come through points given with participation. He posts a new chapter every week or two, so it's possible to stay ahead. Make sure you know the content well before the exam or it can get difficult, even if it may be multiple choice.

The class is very straightforward and teaches you the basics. The homework was a little hard at times when I took the class.
