I personally have an absolute hatred for chemistry, soooo Overall the class is alright. The assignments are a pain to finish as OWL homework is very very picky on what you enter and what it accepts. The chapter content grows in difficulty and boringness as the semester continues.
Focus mainly on general chemistry but geared towards engineers. There are weekly quizzes that are ridiculously hard for no reason, so unless you have a decent idea on the chapter discussed that week, good luck. They drop 5 of your worst quiz scores. The homework as I said earlier is a pain in the a**. The longer ones suck, and iirc they do drop a few of those assignments, but not as many as the quizzes. There are 4 exams, 3 midterm, 1 final. Each exam is over 3 chapters, so Exam 1 is over chapters 1-3, Exam 2 is over chapters 4-6, and so on. They post practice exam. The practice exams are somewhat similar to what is on the exam, but the actual exam questions are significantly harder. He's a very interesting guy. He's got an Italian accent, and loves to play Duck Tales about 10 minutes before class each lecture. He holds exam review session the morning before class. On those days participation is not required. He answers everyone's questions with enthusiasm, and explains more difficult topics more thoroughly.
Although the lectures may seem boring, they are useful, and they incentive you to come through points given with participation. He posts a new chapter every week or two, so it's possible to stay ahead. Make sure you know the content well before the exam or it can get difficult, even if it may be multiple choice.
