Although the instructor was very nice and a passionate lecturer, this was quite possibly one of the worst courses at UBC I've ever taken, which is especially disappointing because it was literally a requirement for the GEOG major. 99% of the issues came from disorganized and annoyingly structured assignments and participation activities, which I will elaborate on below. From what I understand they had recently completely overhauled the course, so hopefully they'll restructure it again to be even a modicum better. I got an A, but I literally fought for my life for that A despite all the odds. I left this course extremely frustrated, and people from my group project who took this as an elective were also shocked by how poorly put together this course was. Just mind bogglingly bad!

Dr. Chubb was very kind and knowledgeable, and did cool research. I understand this was the first course she had ever taught, so I think she was just on a bit of a learning curve. My TA was also very nice.
Don't take it, if you can. If you do, good luck. Prepare your immortal soul for the psychological torture of group projects galore.
