Interesting course if you like science. Weekly quizzes helped to keep you up-to-date on the content. Brush up on your memorization skills!
The first half of the course was aimed more at geology-related disasters (volcanoes, tsunamis, and lots, and lots of time spent on earthquakes.) The second half of the course was more atmospheric-related (tornadoes, hurricanes, winter storms, etc.) Overall I found it pretty interesting and the course certainly gave me ample ~fun facts~ that I can share with others.
Dr. Ferguson was a fantastic professor! With the lectures being on Tues/Thurs, they were longer in length, but he was great at keeping the class engaged and entertained! Every class he would do a "daily disaster" and it was a great way to connect the content to our daily lives.
I would be cautious of going into this class expecting it to be "easy." I put a TON of work and time into memorizing content for this course. That being said, I went into it knowing that I would find the content interesting. If natural disasters don't intrigue you, I probably wouldn't suggest taking this course. (Also even though it is "required," don't buy the textbook, you don't need it!)
