Interesting material. Required for English majors. Recommend taking it as soon as possible in your course of study.
The class covers several critical theories and uses the novel "Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton to apply those theories in the discussion boards.
Professor does not grade on time. I've found her to be a bit of a retaliatory grader. Avoid if possible.
The class feels like a lot more work that it actually is.

The class had good information that is necessary for English majors, but it is also a lot of information you probably already know if you're an English major. There are three papers, four quizzes, and nine discussion posts (most require two replies, but not all).
The content relies heavily on the Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms and several selections from three literary genres. Be prepared to do a lot of reading, especially in weeks 5-8.
The professor I had was not great. She wasn't familiar with the editions of the short stories and plays we were assigned to read (even grading a student poorly for using an edition of the play without line numbers even though the edition we were given did not have line numbers). She only gives feedback on the papers, so be sure to follow the rubric to the T for the discussion posts.
I highly recommend having annotation software handy. It will help a lot with the close readings necessary for the assignments.
