Prof: Martina Crozier / Spring 2024
Oct 31, 2024
You can not procrastinate in this class like most other classes if you want an A/B. If you have a full course schedule and/or work - especially in the summer? Be prepared to spend most of your free time and off days... and probably more, studying.
For the lab portion, the test came from slides and labeling models. The exam was book and lecture influenced, but very concept based in my opinion. You can't just memorize, you genuinely have to understand because the questions may be asked in a tricky way.
Martin was very accommodating and overall a good professor who wanted his students to pass. I'd also suggest Bianca as a TA she was very dedicated to explaining until you get the concepts, everything on her lab test could easily be found in the material she provided.
If you have access to the lab photos, go through it during the lab with your TA and actively label it, color coordinate, etc. so you can review it at home. DO NOT MISS ANY LABS, do not make that mistake.

Prof: Dr. Turchyn / Winter 2023

Attendance wasn't mandatory, but in order to do well, you'll have to attend class. There are handwritten notes that she doesn't publish online so the only way to get them is by coming to class and writing them down on your own. There are 3 exams, and also a final exam. There are many slides to study per exam, but if you give yourself enough time, you'll be able to study enough and score well. There are also about 10 quizzes throughout the semester, and those usually occur weekly.
Detailed physiology of each organ system. Discussed the anatomy of all organ systems but mostly focused on physiology since the Lab portion was the anatomy focus
Dr. Turchyn is a very nice professor, and although the class is tough, people should realize that she can't control that. Anatomy will be a tough class, regardless of who teaches it. She makes herself very accessible outside of class by holding office hours twice a week, staying after class to answer questions, and also being quick to respond to emails or questions asked on canvas discussions. The way she teaches also helps to make sure that we retain the material for future classes which is super helpful since most of us are pre-med or nursing students
-attend every class -participate in class(helped me a lot with remembering things) -attend SI sessions if they are offered(additional practice helps a lot) -attend office hours when you have topics you are unclear about(she's always willing to help and also is willing to meet by appointment) -give yourself enough time to study for exams(she releases exam dates early. don't wait until the week of) -try to find the study method that works for you(even though I did well in the class, how I studied wasn't working for everyone, because everyone learns differently) -get an iPad or some sort of tablet if you don't have one(it helps a lot to be able to write directly on the slides. she moves quick so using a notebook won't help much unless you want a full photo gallery full of her slides. also hel...read more

I really enjoyed this course, I found the material super interesting, it lines up well with medical school courses.
in lecture: tissue types, cell types, muscles and contraction, also focused on the cardiac and pulmonary systems. in lab: memorizing every bone, muscle, and organ in the body.
Dr. Crozier is a great professor, I have never had any issues with him. He takes ALL of his exam questions straight from “mylab and mastering” (the required website you purchase for the class) so make sure to memorize the quiz questions as well as look into the “dynamic study modules” section of the website for even more potential exam questions.
Make sure to set aside adequate time for this class, especially the attached lab portion! you can memorize every single bone in the body overnight!
